Georgia On My Mind

If you read design or lifestyle blogs, you may have noticed that books, images, and quotes by Georgia O’Keefe seem to be showing up a lot these days.

This Georgia resurgance could be due to several things. Perhaps it’s her stunning, but simplistic paintings zoomed in and stripped down to minimalistic forms at a time when minimalism is on the rise. Because it is because the desert has made a comeback, and Georgia was, after all, one of it’s greatest pilgrims. Perhaps it’s photogenic nature—her racy and bold photos make her a character to be sure and one not entirely out of place in our Instagram culture. Or perhaps it is her nature as a strong woman in a time when we need strong female role models more than ever.
